O passado nazista da família de Beatrix: a ascensão da deputada ultraconservadora que gera controvérsias na Alemanha

Beatrix’s family’s Nazi past highlighted by German press since 2014. Three years later, in 2017, she was elected to the Bundestag (German Parliament), representing Berlin.

In 2016, she expressed approval of a Facebook message asking if guards should shoot refugees, including women with children.

In 2018, she caused controversy again by complaining about tweets from the Cologne Police wishing a happy new year in various languages, including Arabic. “Are they trying to appease the hordes of barbaric, Muslim mass rapists this way?” she wrote. The social network deleted the post for violating the rules.

Within the AfD, the deputy is often seen as a member of the “ultraconservative Christian” wing. In 2014, when the far-right took over the party, she stated that she saw the party as a vehicle for “a Christian vision of humanity.”
